Final Reflection

Throughout the spring semester I had my ups and downs and learned a lot of the psychological views on different subjects. In this semester I learned so much, from how the brain and sensation works all the way to psychological disorders and everything in between. Our first lesson was over brain and behavior. I learned in a TED talk about a certain neuroscientist who believes and convinced me about the purpose of the brain. I learned that the brain is there and evolved to control movement. I also learned about a neuroscientist who created a brain-controlled exoskeleton who helped a man who was paralyzed to kick the first ball in the 2014 World Cup. These two neuroscientist believe the same thing, and they convinced me to agree with them. Along with that, I learned about sensation and perception. Sensation and perception are two key components to how we all use our senses to relay to our brain about our surroundings. It allows for us to be aware of the objects and hazards that...

Strengths

Image
In this week’s lesson I did the strength activity where I took a 240 question quiz that came up with some of my top strengths. I used these strengths in different ways than how I usually approach my life using these strengths. I learned that there is much more room to improve on your everyday life by basically doing your best strengths in different ways. My plan My top 3 strengths expressed myself in a way that I do see myself when I reflect on my life and think about how others look at my character and the way I hold myself up. My first strength was spirituality, sense of purpose, and faith. I do see myself with strong and coherent beliefs. I see myself as someone who was put on this earth for a purpose to benefit the world rather than to take away from it. My beliefs shape my life and steers my life in a way I believe is right. The way I am going to use this strength in a different way in this week to continue to follow my faith by making almost every decision throu...

M6

#CounselorsHelp When I was in high school and it was my senior year I was having trouble on deciding what I wanted to do with my life. I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue playing baseball and be a college athlete or go somewhere and just be a regular student. So I went to my school counselor. She just sat there and listened and let me rant or just talk about how I felt and let me get it all out. After talking to her a couple of days in a row I realized I still wanted to play college baseball. I was amazed because the counselor didn't really say much she just sat there and listened.
To describe myself in one word it would be leadership. Growing up I have always taken the leadership role. Its not that I was looking to be a leader it just naturally came to me and people would look to me as a leader. As I grew up playing baseball I would be the leader of the teams I would play on. This would include my select baseball teams and then getting into high school be the leaders of that team as well. My senior year was one of the easier moments of me being a leader. I knew with everyone that just graduated I was gonna have to step up and be a leader. When I look back it these experiences I had helped define the man I am today.

Memory Reflection

Memory Related Disorder:  The memory related disorder that stood out to me in this weeks assignment was the one that you always here about, and the one that affects most people, Alzheimers. I have heard so many stories from people I am close to being affected by this disease because someone they know or love has the terrible disease. The phenomenon behind this disease is that the brain simply attacks itself. The cells, nerves, and transmitters are attacked and the brain eventually shrinks and major gaps are formed. I personally learned from this, that there is really no cure yet. It's such a horrible thing, but one can not do anything about it. Improving Memory Strategy:  The strategy that stood out to me was the bundling strategy. The way this strategy works is lets say that you have a large amount of number that you need to memorize. Instead of trying to memorize all of them at once group them up and memorize the groups at different times an...

M4 task

For this task I was able to sit them down in a quiet environment where they could be focused and prepared for the test. Prior to the test I had each individual grab a note card and pencil and be ready for the test. First I told them to listen to the list of words I was about to read, and then once I was done, to write down as many as they could remember. This was the list I read:  thread, pin, eye, injection ,syringe, sewing, sharp, point, hurt, knitting, prick, thimble, haystack, pain These are their lists: Friend 1: thread,  eye, injection, syringe, sewing, point, thimble, pain Friend 2: thread eye injection sewing sharp prick, thimble, pain  Once they had written down as many of the words as they could remember, I told them to listen to a second list and again, remember as many words as possible. This is the second list I read:   Bed, Drowse,  Awake, Nurse,  Tired, Sick,  Dream, Lawyer,  Wake, Medicine,  Snooze, Health,  Sno...
