What is Perception ?

What is perception?
According to the chapter, Perception is created in part through the simultaneous action of thousands of feature detector neurons—specialized neurons, located in the visual cortex, that respond to the strength, angles, shapes, edges, and movements of a visual stimulus.

Perception
The powerpoint says that perception illustrates how we perceive the whole picture compared to the individual parts, and that our minds bring order and form to stimuli by following certain rules for grouping. These different groupings consist of proximity, similarity, continuity, and closure.
In our eyes as individuals we see things from a whole different perspective than other people would such as those pictures online that claim there is an animal but some people see a face. Also a while back there was an internet picture that went viral of a blue and black dress that some people saw white and gold. Our eyes play tricks on our mind when we see something like that even though other people see differently.

Our View
In our everyday lives perception comes around all the time. The way we look at things and mentally break it down in our mind fro what our eyes see happens more than we know it. The way we grew up and the images we saw as children play a huge role in what we see in our lives today. It blows my mind how things we look at in our eyes is totally different than the people who just met with different backgrounds.
